With the moves that she makes in her videos and on stage, she is definitely considered a sex symbol, but Shakira says she doesn’t really understand her sex symbol status.

She recently said: “My videos represent the artist in me very well, not the woman I am. When they watch my videos, people think I’m a very sexually aggressive person, but I am completely the opposite. I’m not as self-confident as it seems when I’m on the stage. I have lots of insecurities. I am actually very shy.”

Well…we should ask De Le Rua about that one!

1. Shakira’s boyfriend’s father, the ex-president of Argentina has hinted to the press that both of them (it’s Shakira and her BOY FRIEND!!! What did you think ) might soon be tying the knot… he already addressed his side as her future in laws!!!
2. Shakira and Pink Floyd’s elderly frontman Roger Waters are buying (and developing) a 700-acre island in the Bahamas.

Got the hint… now this part is only for the dimwits who couldn’t get the hint…

People… where did she get all that money from??? Maybe an ex-president could’ve helped her future daughter-in-law

Don’t we all Shakira freaks know that she’s been dating this dude Antonio since 5 years now (wonder WHAT made her stick on to one chap for sssooooooooooo lllllooooooooooonnnnngggggg!!!!!)… And the buzz everywhere is that their dating is almost official!

You wanna know how? Then read this… “Shakira is a very good woman. She is very loving to her parents and with her in-laws as well.” Any guesses as to who was the one who spoke these lines??? Well guys it was Antonio’s dad!!!

Though he does admit that “Kids today would rather live as a couple, they don’t believe that marriage is necessary to be happy.”, the “in-laws” thingee did the trick!!! We all know that he’s the ex-president of Argentina and diplomacy is second nature to him… so if he’s mentioned such a thing to the press, then you may soon hear the wedding bells ringing for Shakira

Shakira who bounced back from a career low this year with the hit ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ failed to win more than a single award at the MTV Latin American Music Awards.

It was quite un-natural for a star who has won as many as 11 of these awards since 2002 to walk off with only a single award this year.Nevertheless she seemed quite contented with what she got…she might have been a li’l disappointed though when she said, “I took seven awards last year, and it was only fair that someone else won this year.”

Perhaps she is looking forward to the 49th Annual Grammy Awards coming with the new year where she dominates with as many as 6 nominations including categories song, record and album categories, for her Spanish-language CD “Fijación Oral Vol. 1″ and its reggaeton-tinged hit “La Tortura.”

We wish her all the best…coz a victory would definitely mean more of heart-toucing and hip-shaking music from our Latino star Shakira!

Shakira set the stage on fire as she opened at the MTV Video Music Awards Latin America 2006, in a flowing red and black dress for a mariachi trumpet-backed performance of her hit ‘No’. This performance was quite not the ‘usual’ Shakira performance since it was notably devoid of all hip-shaking that seems to be Shakira’s trademark now!

After her performance she was seen in a pink evening gown, enjoying the show with Daddy Yankee.

Shakira, who won on her single nomination for song of the year for ‘Hips Don’t Lie’, said, “I took seven awards last year, and it was only fair that someone else won this year.”

But only this year huh! Not beyond that

I ain’t kiddin guys… there are actually 141 more shakiras in the world now… but it’s just gonna take some time for them to start SPEAKING, let alone singing… they’re new born babies by the same name people… what did you think

Well I’m just talking about New York city… and the sad news is that even after delivering chart buster after chart buster no pop singer, including Shakira, could get into the top ten names of the year… the parents still chose names for their boys from the Bible and girls from the usual familiar girlie names list…

So while the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ babe had just 141 girls names behind her, the name ‘Emily’ ruled the roost with 566 kids!!! Buck up guys… Shakira isn’t all that uncool a name too!

You read that right guys… in a recent survey with a wide range of guys, she was the most desired of the lot… When asked as to whom would the guys want to go out on a date with, the name most taken was — SHAKIRA!

“I’m just a big fan of Latin music, Latin dancing, all that good stuff. Hopefully, we can go out and have a good time.” Said Aaron Merz… a cute fan of hers! So now that you have tooooo much of a choice, who’ll be the lucky one of the lot???

Looks like Shakira is all up to leave a mark everywhere she goes. Pop diva Shakira is to take to play a charity concert in her hometown to build an arts school for 1,800 children forced to flee their homes by Colombia’s civil war.

The concert, part of her worldwide Oral Fixation tour, will be held on November 15 in the Caribbean port city of Barranquilla. It is being billed as a festive homecoming for the hip-shaking international superstar who last month was nominated for five Latin Grammy awards.The English and Spanish bilingual school will bear the name of Shakira’s Pies Descalzos (Spanish for Bare Feet) foundation.The school will open in 2008 in La Playa, a poor suburb of Barranquilla where 45% of the residents are children – only about half of whom attend school.

In the midst of grammy nominations Shakira has managed to grace her shelves with some more accolades.Colombian pop diva Shakira won in five categories at Premios Oye!, a Mexican music award ceremony.

Shakira, who is playing a series of concerts in Mexico, won best album for Oral Fixation Volume 2. She also won, song of the year in Spanish for Las caderas no mienten and song in the year in English for Hips Don’t Lie best video and a special award for song writing in her song Dia de enero.

All that we can say is that ..’ WHENEVER she does something and WHEREVER she goes… she’s got the POWER..Any doubts !

This year Shakira is surely on the top…hit singles to Grammy nominations. Columbian pop-princess Shakira leads the Grammy nominations this year with as many as six nominations in her kitty.

She is nominated for best female pop vocal album for “Fijacion Oral Vol. 1, best engineered album, best short video, song of the year, record of the year and for best song writer.However there is a bit of confusion…some sources confirm Shakira having nominated in Five categories while some say Six.
