READ ON… JON VOIGHT has been desperately trying to repair his relationship with estranged daughter ANGELINA JOLIE by publicly requesting to see his grandchildren, but may have further hampered their relationship by mistakenly calling his granddaughter Shakira instead of ZAHARA. The veteran actor was caught on tape at the British Academy Of Film And Television Arts Tea Party ,where he was doing interviews on the red carpet. A footage shows Voight sending birthday wishes to his grandson MADDOX saying, “Maddox just had a birthday. Happy birthday, Maddox! Five years old - it’s a big one! You’re going to be a young man, and I send my love out to you. And send my love to…uh…Shakira…and Shahira…” The befuddled grandfather then asked the reporter, ‘Is it Shakira or Shahira?’ apparently confusing the one-and-a-half-year-old tot for the 29-year-old Colombian HIPS DON’T LIE bombshell. When the reporter replied that the correct name of Angelina and Brad Pitt’s adopted daughter was Zahara, the confused Voight added, “Shahara! Shahara!”

Looks like Voight was so enamoured by singer Shakira that he commited such a guffaw.Wonder what Shakira has to say to this…TO GRANDPA WITH LOVE!

The 29 year-old star, who’s Hips Don’t Lie, with Wclef Jean recently shot to number one, has demanded that world powers find a way to stop the conflict in the region. Shakira’s father is Lebanese.As she accepted an award in Mexico, Shakira told the crowd, “It breaks my heart to know that while this is happening, we stay silent. I hope that my generation will call on the world powers to stop this conflict, to intervene. There must be an international intervention as soon as possible.”.

Her collabaration with rapper Wyclef Jean has had the Britons asking for more,more and more..Hell,even I am hooked and am really not into latin stuff,but in her case I need to make an exception…Her U.K Charts odyssey as seen her stave off competition from Cascada and Christina Aguilera…Really tough competition if you ask me..

It’s not the numerous awards or the unrestarinted applause that gives Shakira the kick and certainly isn’t something that makes her truly happy. what makes the pop star really really happy from within is the charity foundation that she has set up for the poor kids on the streets of Columbia.

The senstional singer had set up the Pies Descalzos Charity Foundation in the year 1995. It is named after her first album and since then has raised about $4 million for the benefit of the poor children.

Striking a philosophical note Shakira says “…I realise I’ve made a differance and that I have to keep doing everyday.” hats off you Shakira baby..

Shakira has also been dominating the Scottish charts for quite some time with her hit single “hips don’t lie”… making it clear that her hips really don’t lie!!

The Latin bombshell has called for peace in West Asia and appealed to her generation to help the international community to restore peace.

Shakira said, “It breaks my heart, that we remain silent while this is happening. I hope that my generation will call upon the world to intervene to end this conflict.”

She also added, “I am sad, as I believe the rest of the world is knowing that so many mothers and children are being killed on both sides. We do not need leaders who create dispute, anger and hate but rather leaders who care about the people and their needs”.

Incidentally her father is Lebanese which makes her view understandable…
