In the industry where drunken tirades, wardrobe malfunctions and alcohol addiction are the order of the day, where people like Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and the likes, spend more time in night clubs than making music and improve their acting skills, Shakira is one woman who has from a long time, stuck to the reason that gives her an opportunity to be a star.

She has not forgotten that she is a singer and thats what makes her a celebrity and a star… she works pretty hard on her songs, writes them in Spanish and then writes them in English, pays attention to the technicalities involved, ropes in other stars, dances and choreographs her songs and gets a reward in terms of awards and accolades from her fans.

She stays miles away from publicity antics that other celebs do to keep in the limelight, she prefers to be known by the work she does. She doesn’t potray herself to be this larger than life superstar even after so much of success… rather she has halved her attention and efforts to the benefit of her countrymen too… she set up a foundation that helps the children of her country get educated.

Shakira surely in every sense is a true Star!

Columbian singing sensation Shakira has been awarded with the People’s Choice Award for the best pop song for her super-duper hit “Hips Don’t Lie” that has swept the entire world.

Surely the woman has also conquered North America also

The 2006 Napster Awards have now been annouced. The USP of these awards is that they honor artists and their songs based on the fan’s buying and Listening Habits.

“The Napster Awards provide insight into how music fans behave when they can listen to an enormous variety of music away from restrictive radio playlists, limited retail shelf space and 30-second clip, buck a track digital stores,” said Chris Gorog, chairman and CEO of Napster.

Among the Latin category, our Columbian crooner won the honors for Most-Played Latin Artist, Most-Played Latin Song for her song “Whenever, Wherever”.

We congratulate all of the 2006 Napster Award winners, and look forward to continuing to honor the music Napster subscribers enjoy playing the most,” added Gorog.

She sweeped the Latin Grammy Awards but couldn’t win at the Billboard Awards ceremony in Las Vegas, USA.

Her chart-topper ‘Hips Dont Lie’ didnt win the Best Pop Single Award as Nelly Furtado’s Promiscous swept it away from right under her nose.

R & B Diva Mary J. Blige stole the show at the Billboards as the Best Female R&B/Hip Hop Artist of the Year.

Nevermind Shakira…better luck next time

Shakira has shaken her hips and squeezed into our hearts for sure… her looks, her groovy moves made my heart go pit pat at least!!!! N trust me, coz I identify with her as when I say that…

And it’s not just her… 3 has already been instrumental in helping artists such as Chamillionaire, Gnarls Barklay and James Blunt too feature in the list of celebs who got famous with the help of 3…

Shakira sweeped the Latin Grammys this year by taking away four awards off the 5 Awards she was nominated for.

If we go down the memory lane, we may see that since 1998, Shakira has been nominated 16 times at the Grammys and the Latin Grammys in all and the Columbian Diva has won a whooping 10 Grammys.

That is quite an achievement for Shakira…Hats off to her!!

Shakira has been winning it big nowadays… after those 4 Grammies, she’s been painting the town red!!! And more than anything, it’s her talk to the media about her personality and why she’s Shakira and not anyone else….

The best part was when she retorted out loud saying that she is NOT Britney Spears… “My videos represent the artist in me very well, but not the kind of woman I am.” Says Shakira…

The Latino babe also added that being blonde and having a guy is the only similarity between her Spears… also adding in that though her videos seem raunchy and erotic, she simply doesn’t want to expose more than her belly in them… “I admire people who can do nudes for the love of art,” says Shakira “But I can’t.” says Shakira. And the reason she gives is that her mom has advised her not to show any more than her waist…

Though the ‘Momma’s baby’ part is arguable, we still love Shakira for whatever she is… after all, it’s not just her HIPS that DON’T LIE

Our gyrating belly-swivelling Columbian eye-candy Shakira was the big winner at the Latin Grammy Awards. She took home four accolades! WOW!!!

The Hips Don’t Lie beauty picked up Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year for La Tortura - which she performed with Spanish heart-throb Alejandro Sanz - and Album Of The Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Album for Fijacion Oral Vol 1 at the Madison Square Garden ceremony in New York City.

Shakira and Alejandro Sanz also rocked the audience at the Grammys when the performed “La Pared”/”A La Primera Persona”/”La Tortura” together.

She also took the opportunity to support illegal immigrants who are seeking work in the United States, saying, “I hope soon they will receive they recognition they deserve from the government.”

Hip Hip Hurray!!!

The 7th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards is said to take place on Nov. 2 at Madison Square Garden in New York and will be broadcast on the Univision Network from 8 - 11 p.m. ET/PT (7 - 10 p.m. Central).

The world’s premier Latin music awards show will spotlight performances by our Columbian Crooner Shakira and other Latin stars Ricky Martin, Alejandro Sanz, Hector El Father, Willie COlon and many more.

Billboard predicts Shakira will rock the Grammys and walk away with the Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Short form Music video.

Shakira who bounced back from a career low this year with the hit ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ failed to win more than a single award at the MTV Latin American Music Awards.

It was quite un-natural for a star who has won as many as 11 of these awards since 2002 to walk off with only a single award this year.Nevertheless she seemed quite contented with what she got…she might have been a li’l disappointed though when she said, “I took seven awards last year, and it was only fair that someone else won this year.”

Perhaps she is looking forward to the 49th Annual Grammy Awards coming with the new year where she dominates with as many as 6 nominations including categories song, record and album categories, for her Spanish-language CD “Fijación Oral Vol. 1″ and its reggaeton-tinged hit “La Tortura.”

We wish her all the best…coz a victory would definitely mean more of heart-toucing and hip-shaking music from our Latino star Shakira!
