Pop superstar Shakira is going to sing for the freedom of the hostages held by a Colombian rebel group, when she will perform in her birth country on 20th July.

The singer met with released FARC hostage Ingrid Betancourt- ex Colombian presidential candidate to raise awareness about the hostage’s plight.

Shakira is going to accompany Colombian pop star Carlos Vives for the Independence Day show.

The event is organized to pressurize the terrorist group FARC to release its 700 hostages.

This is not the first time we hear Beyonce Knowles go ga ga over Colombia’s golden girl Shakira. She was initially very fond of Shakira and she has got more fond of her eversince the two worked on Beyonce’s forthcoming single ‘Beautiful Liar’.

“I have always loved her and I have always wanted to work with her and the song fits perfectly.It basically talks about two women - the same guy is trying to get at both of them but instead of them fighting, they are saying, ‘He’s a beautiful liar, let’s not fight, let’s stick together. Forget him!’ I think it’s a great concept,” Beyonce was quoted as saying by a source.

The concept is certainly good… and what a treat will it be to watch these two beautiful women set the screen on fire.

Lebanese-Colombian pop-sensation Shakira is gonna perform live in concert presented by Playstation 3 in Dubai on March 23rd 2007 at the Dubai Autodrome.

The sponsors expect the tickets to be sold like hot-cakes considering Shakira, is the best selling artist in Middle East with her Arabian roots.

And Shakira is equally excited about her tour to Dubai, “I have heard a lot about Dubai and performing in the Middle East for the first time will be something special. The Dubai show will be one of the biggest shows on my 2007 “Oral Fixation Tour”.

I’m sure this show will be a great success like all her Oral Fixation Concerts in Latin America… And she will give all the belly dancers in Dubai a run for their money.

The Tour is scheduled to begin from 25th January in Hamburg, Germany and last for three months as Shakira will rock more than 10 European Countries.

Looks like Shakira is all set to conquer complete South America with her frenetic belly dancing.

She is in Peru now shaking her booty at her Oral Fixation tour. She gave her 24,000 Peruvian fans not only a belly dancing treat but also one with her new avatar with dark hair.

She is off to Ecuador next week, then she will go to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

Good news for all her European fans, as she is planning a series of tours to Europe next year.

Shakira has proved her worth as a singer and a performer by sweeping the Latin Grammys…but I really think the woman is kinda getting monotonous now.

Her songs are nevertheless alright but her belly-dancing stuff and her snake-live grooves are getting a bit too monotonous. Especially after you see her do the same thing again and again in every performance.

She is a great talent, a superb singer and an entertaining performer…I’m sure she would be definitely able to come up with great stuff…provided she thinks out of the box now…its high time!

Native city Barranquila gyrates with crooner Shakira!

After rocking Venezuela and President Hugo Chavez, Shakira did a benefit concert at Barranquilla , her home town and completely loved the experience.

She was quoted saying,

“This great place nourished me, forged me as a human being, as a woman and also as an artist, and coming back means being able to see all the people from whom I learned so much and to say thank you and pay homage to my land.”

Im sure Barranquila was twice as delighted as Shakira to have her there…Her popularity in Columbia is soaring and she was also payed a tribute with a life size statue of hers being put up by her fans in her homeland.

Colombian pop star Shakira performed to 10,000 fans in Venezuela on Saturday night, thanks to president Hugo Chavez who stepped in and helped her find a venue.

Chavez claims the singer was struggling to find a suitable site in the capital Caracas, until he granted her permission to use a military airbase that was part of a coup in 2002 that temporarily robbed the leader of power.

After an appeal from Shakira’s promoters, Chavez allowed them use of the La Carlota base, he revealed in a televised interview.

Chavez even claimed he may attend the gig in disguise, saying:

“Maybe I’ll put on a wig and go see Shakira.”

Looks like that Columbian beauty seems to have cast her spell over the President too…and has added another hi-profile name to her fan-list!

Shakira has recorded a song with the Spanish singer Miguel Bosé in Panama while on her “Fijación Oral” tour.

The popular Spanish singer and actor Miguel Bosé is currently preparing his new album and, at the same time, a greatest hits tour for 2007. Meanwhile, he plans to perform in Venezuela on November 15, sharing the stage with his friend Frank Quintero.

Shakira at a press conference pointed out that she would return to Panama in December to launch her Foundation against poverty in Latin America, a project she shares with other Hispanic artists such as the Mexican group Maná and the Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz.

The 7th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards is said to take place on Nov. 2 at Madison Square Garden in New York and will be broadcast on the Univision Network from 8 - 11 p.m. ET/PT (7 - 10 p.m. Central).

The world’s premier Latin music awards show will spotlight performances by our Columbian Crooner Shakira and other Latin stars Ricky Martin, Alejandro Sanz, Hector El Father, Willie COlon and many more.

Billboard predicts Shakira will rock the Grammys and walk away with the Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Short form Music video.
